Why do I get an Active X error message when I
install the eXact Search Bar?
You probably have your Internet browser security settings on High. This setting
prevents ActiveX from working on your machine. To install the eXact Search Bar
you must do the following:

Go to Tools > Internet Options
-
Click on the Security Tab
-
Click on the Internet icon in the window
-
Change your security setting to Medium (If you see a sliding bar, move it to
Medium)
-
If you see custom setting information, click on the Default Level button and
then move the slider to Medium.

If you see that your security setting is already Medium, skip to step 7 below.
-
Click OK
Click here to install the
eXact Search Bar again.
Why do I get a Security Warning from Pattern
Discovery asking me if I want to run and install the eXact Search Bar?
Pattern Discovery are eXact partners. They are responsible for making sure that
the eXact Search Bar is 100% functional and working to meet your needs. We
insist that they follow the same strict standards of security and privacy as
you have come to expect from eXact.
I have installed the eXact Search Bar, why does it
not appear in my browser?
If you do not see the Toolbar, go to View Menu > Toolbars and eXact option.
If you are using IE 6 and you are experiencing trouble
downloading the eXact Search Bar, please make sure the following item is
enabled in your browser: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Enable
third party browser extensions.
How do I uninstall the eXact Search Bar?
In order to uninstall the eXact Search Bar, please follow these steps:

Select Start > Settings > Control Panel

Select Add/Remove Programs
-
Select eXact Search Bar and click Remove
How do I know I am using the latest version of the
eXact Search Bar?
The eXact Search Bar automatically updates itself. So you never need to
download another version - you can always be sure that you are using the latest
release.
I have tried to install the eXact Search Bar and
have had no luck

I can see the search bar in my browser. Why does it
not work?
If you are using IE5.0 and have other toolbars already installed on your
machine you will not be able to use the eXact Search Bar. If you would like to
use the eXact Search Bar we suggest upgrading your Internet Browser to the
latest version so that it is able to support multiple toolbars.
In order to check what version of Internet Explorer you
are using please follow these steps:

Click Help in your browser

Select About Internet Explorer
-
You will be able to see the version number in the pop up box that appears

The eXact Search Bar does not collect personally identifiable
information regarding your Internet searches or any personal
information about individual users. We do collect aggregate
search terms that are searched, but that information is

The eXact Search Bar buttons
Search Engine drop down list
The drop down list box allows you to access search results from the web's
leading search engines including Google, Lycos, AltaVista, Looksmart and more.
Go
Initiates the Search for your keyword and gets you the results you are looking
for.
More Results
Use this button to search the same keyword at a different search engine. If the
results on your first search do not help you find exactly what you are looking
for why not try another search engine. There is no need to retype your keyword
just click the More Results link and we will automatically search the next
engine in our list.
Popular Searches
Access a list of some of the most frequently searched terms and the most
relevant answers for each of them.
Yellow Pages
Look up businesses anywhere in the United States through a national Yellow
Pages directory. All you need to do is enter a name, zip and state and the
eXact Search Bar will help you find them.
Shopping
One-click access to search the web's best bargains from hundreds of merchants.
Weather
Get current conditions and forecasts just by entering a city name or zip code.
Dictionary
Look up word definitions with the click of a button.
Highlight
The eXact Search Bar will highlight your search keywords on the web page you
are viewing so you can quickly access critical information. To highlight the
keyword you searched for simply click the 'highlight' button on your toolbar.
To turn this feature off for your next search click the 'highlight' button
again.
